February Outing – Lerida Travelling Stock Reserve
This event is hosted by Friends of Grasslands (FoG), who have kindly invited Field Naturalists of Canberra to join the outing, along with the Goulburn Field Naturalists Society.

Some Field Naturalists would fondly remember visiting this reserve in early Spring with John Brickhill and Isobel Crawford. Here is your chance to now see it in late Summer!
Time and date: 10 am, Saturday 21 Feb
Meeting Places: Lerida TSR at 10 am (see 1st map below),
or alternatively, to car-pool, Park and Ride car park, Wells Station Drive near Flemington Road at 9 am (see 2nd map below)
Directions: Follow the Federal Highway northwards. Just before Collector, turn left onto Collector Road, then almost immediately after, turn left towards the Cullerin Range (also called Colletor Road). Follow this up the escarpment till you reach another intersection (with Marked Tree Road). Here, turn right (also still on Collector Road) and travel towards Gunning. The Lerida TSR is at the intersection with Lerida Road c. 8.1 km (c. 8 minutes) down Collector Road. Parking at the entrance to the TSR near the intersection of Lerida Rd and Collector Rd.
Description: Lerida TSR is a gem with highly intact Box-Gum Grassy Woodland. There is a diverse grassy ground layer, and shady trees for relief from the sun if the day is hot. On a recent springtime visit, Rainer found the site to be in just as good a condition as when he first visited it, in 1997. Birdlife there is great too. If time permits after our visit to Lerida TSR, we could visit Oakdale Nature Reserve, which is on the escarpment overlooking Collector, another grassy woodland (FoG).
Leader: Rainer Rehwinkel
Registration: Please email margaret.ning@fog.org.au
Also notify Margaret if you’re intending to meet at the car-pooling location.
