November Outing – Ginninderra Creek turtles

Field Naturalists who attended Bruno de Oliveira Ferronato’s engaging turtle presentation in July will be excited to hear that he has offered to accompany us on this walk.

We will start near the Jarramlee Pond and head downstream along the Ginninderra Creek riparian zone towards Fassifen Pond, looking for signs of the Eastern Long-necked Turtle (Chelodina longicollis). Whether we see any turtles or not, we’re bound to learn lots more interesting information about them, and discover ways to assist their conservation. Those of you who came on John Brickhill’s enjoyable walk around Jarramlee Pond in June will be familiar with the starting location.

Meeting Place: Cotter Place cul-de-sac on the western edge of MacGregor (see map below)

Bring: water and sun protection

Insurance: Please note that FNAC does not provide Personal Accident Insurance. It is recommended that all participants on FNAC outings have Ambulance Cover in case of accident or sudden serious illness requiring urgent evacuation. Ambulance cover is often included with Private Health Insurance plans or it can be purchased separately.
