Jul 2025 – Megafauna at the ANBG

After leading a very popular megafauna outing at the Australian National Botanic Gardens last year, Bronwyn Saunders offered to do it again this year.

Saturday the 26th was the chosen day, but rain was forecast, so Bronwyn made backup plans to give a presentation in a dry seminar room. However, just before our starting time of 9:30, the showers eased. A decision was made to walk, and it was a good call! Hardly a spot of rain fell and Bronwyn gave her talk in the field, appropriately in front of the exhibits.

The attendees had a very enjoyable morning, learning much new information from Bronwyn. Everyone appreciated her engaging style of presentation too, full of humour and wit. Discussions continued at the Pollen Cafe afterwards.

Although birds weren’t the focus of the morning, we were delighted to pass by a flock of 11 Red-browed Finches feeding on the ground.
